Troops of the 12 Brigade have neutralised a suspected terrorist and recovered arms during an ambush operation in Owara community, Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The development was disclosed by security analyst Zagazola Makama in a post shared on X.
Makama said the operation was carried out around 5:00 p.m. on March 24 after credible intelligence revealed the movement of suspected terrorists into the area.
According to him, the troops deployed a blocking force and laid ambush along a suspected withdrawal route.
The fleeing suspects reportedly ran into the troops and a gun battle ensued.
“The terrorists were forced to retreat in disarray following the troops’ superior firepower,” the source said.
He added that a sweep of the area led to the discovery of the body of one neutralised suspect.
“Items recovered from the scene include two AK-47 magazines loaded with 10 and two rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, as well as two motorcycles and other sundry items.
“Residents have been urged to continue to support security agencies with timely and credible information,” he said.
