Nigeria U-20 Women’s National Team Assistant Coach Mansur Abdullahi has called on coaches participating in the forthcoming 10th Igala Nations Cup to uphold elite standards of professionalism by cultivating ethical relationships with match officials, players, and supporters.
Delivering a paper titled “Ethical Behaviour of Coaches in Dealing with Referees, Players and Fans” at a one-day coaching clinic in Idah, Coach Abdullahi emphasized that mutual respect and discipline are essential for a peaceful, fair, and successful tournament.
He urged tactical leaders to foster cordial interactions across the board, noting that positive conduct directly drives sportsmanship and ensures a hitch-free competition.
Beyond tactics, Abdullahi reminded the participants that coaches carry a fundamental duty to shape the character, discipline, and off-pitch attitude of young athletes.
The workshop also featured retired goalkeeper and CAF-licensed manager Abubakar Kamar, who delivered a specialized session on “The Role of Coaches in the Development of Goalkeepers,” highlighting modern techniques for grooming elite shot-stoppers.
Serving as the official curtain-raiser for the 10th annual Igala Nations Cup, the seminar successfully equipped regional managers with key technical knowledge and core ethical values ahead of the kickoff.
