The Kogi State Police Command has intercepted a vehicle carrying 400 wraps of suspected Indian hemp in Magongo, Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area of the state.

Police spokesperson ASP Salisu Oyiza Afusat disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, noting that operatives from the Akpafa Division made the catch during a routine stop-and-search.

The suspect, identified as Abdulrahman, was travelling in a Honda vehicle with registration number FST 700 DH from Edo State heading toward Abuja.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was involved in the sale and distribution of Indian hemp,” Afusat stated.

“He further stated that the consignment was supplied to him by an individual identified by the alias ‘Biggy’ in Edo State and was intended for delivery to buyers in Abuja,” she added.

The suspect reportedly valued the intercepted narcotics at N3.2 million.

Authorities have since handed both the suspect and the recovered exhibits over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for further investigation.

Police are actively pursuing leads to track down “Biggy” and other individuals linked to the supply and distribution chain.

Meanwhile, Kogi State Commissioner of Police CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi praised the officers for their vigilance and urged citizens to keep sharing useful intelligence with security agencies.
