Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has accused the Federal High Court of deliberately attempting to convict him at all costs to abort his presidential ambition ahead of next year’s general elections.
Sowore leveled this heavy allegation on Friday while interacting with newsmen immediately after the conclusion of his latest trial session at the court.
The activist stated that it is an automatic legal disqualification from running for any political office in Nigeria when an individual is convicted of a crime.
The African Action Congress, AAC presidential candidate further alleged that no citizen could realistically get justice in a court where his defense counsel was previously ordered by the presiding judge to kneel down.
Fearing political sabotage, Sowore declared, “They want to convict me at all costs, so that I will be disqualified from contesting the 2027 election. That’s what it’s about.”
It was earlier reported that the online publisher is standing trial on criminal defamation charges brought against him by the Department of State Services (DSS) for making allegedly false claims against President Bola Tinubu.
