Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has expressed pride and satisfaction over his decision to represent Nigeria after reaching the milestone of 100 appearances for the national team.
The Fulham star was honoured with a commemorative plaque following Nigeria’s international friendly against Portugal, marking his centenary appearance in the green-and-white jersey.
Speaking after the game, Iwobi said he remains proud to represent Nigeria and thanked everyone who has contributed to his journey, including the coach who handed him his first national team call-up.
“I am proud to be where I am today and proud to wear the green-and-white jersey. I am grateful to everyone, including the coach who called me up to the team for the first time, I have no regrets choosing Nigeria.” he said.
The 30-year-old joins an exclusive list of Nigerian football legends who have reached 100 caps for the Super Eagles, including Vincent Enyeama, Joseph Yobo, and Ahmed Musa.
Since making his debut against DR Congo in 2015, Iwobi has become a key figure for the national team, recording 10 goals and eight assists in his 100 appearances.
His achievement highlights over a decade of commitment and service to Nigerian football, further cementing his place among the country’s most experienced internationals.
