Technical Adviser of Kwara United Football Club, Ashifat Suleiman, has expressed confidence in his team’s readiness for the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL season.

Ashifat made this known while speaking with journalists after Kwara United’s friendly match against Crown FC of Ogbomoso on Wednesday at the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl of the George Innih Stadium, Ilorin.

The Technical Adviser explained that the friendly was part of the team’s preparations for their league opener against Kano Pillars on Sunday.

He noted that the team had spent about three weeks away from Ilorin during their pre-season preparations, adding that returning home provided an opportunity for the supporters to assess the team while also allowing the players to adapt to the natural grass pitch.

According to him, the team had predominantly played on an artificial turf during their time away from home.

“We are ready. Whether we like it or not, we are ready for the league because the league is very close. We are ready for the league,” Ashifat said.

He added: “It is part of our preparation towards our league coming up on Sunday.

We travelled away for about three weeks and were not in Ilorin.

Coming back here, we want everybody to see what we are doing at this time and also to feel the turf because we have been playing on AstroTurf.”

Kwara United will begin their 2026/27 NPFL campaign against Kano Pillars on Sunday at the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl, George Innih Stadium, Ilorin.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 4:00 p.m.
