The Lagos State Government has announced plans to review the master plans of Lekki and other flood-prone areas across the state as part of efforts to address persistent flooding.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu made the announcement during an on-the-spot assessment of affected communities, explaining that the review would help identify and correct possible planning infractions while providing long-term solutions to recurring flooding.
According to the governor, the initiative is aimed at protecting residents from the impact of flooding, especially during the rainy season.
As part of the assessment, Sanwo-Olu visited communities in Ibeju-Lekki and Eti-Osa Local Government Areas to evaluate the extent of the flooding and determine appropriate interventions.
He added that the review of the master plans would complement broader government efforts to strengthen flood management and promote orderly urban development across Lagos State.
