WAFCON 2026: Nigerian referee Yemisi Akintoye makes CAF list

 

The Confederation of African Football, CAF has selected Nigerian referee Yemisi Akintoye as one of the match officials for the upcoming 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON tournament.

This appointment marks the first time the talented arbiter will officiate at Africa’s flagship women’s football tournament.

Akintoye, who earned her prestigious FIFA badge back in 2021, continues to make significant strides in her officiating career.

She secured her spot on the elite roster after passing all mandatory CAF medical, physical, and technical fitness tests.

The continental showcase will bring together the finest national teams across Africa to compete for the ultimate trophy.

Morocco is set to host the thrilling tournament from July 26 to August 16, 2026.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons will head into the competition looking to protect their crown as the defending champions.
