Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY), have dismantled a criminal syndicate involved in the manufacture and supply of locally fabricated firearms to terrorist groups operating in Kebbi State.
According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, on Thursday, July 2, 2026, the operation was carried out following credible intelligence.
The troops raided a secluded compound allegedly used by the suspects to evade security detection.
During a thorough search of the premises, they recovered five locally fabricated AK-47 rifles and arrested two suspected arms manufacturers and suppliers.
The operation was conducted in collaboration with other security agencies, highlighting the effectiveness of inter-agency efforts to disrupt terrorist logistics and dismantle criminal networks across the North-West.
The military described the raid as another major milestone in Operation FANSAN YAMMA’s ongoing campaign to curb the proliferation of illegal arms and deny terrorist groups access to weapons used in carrying out attacks.
The two suspects are currently in military custody and undergoing preliminary interrogation, while investigations continue to identify and apprehend other members of the syndicate, as well as uncover their financiers and collaborators.
The Theatre Command commended the professionalism, courage, and commitment of the troops and partner security agencies involved in the operation.
It also urged residents of the North-West to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, stressing that public cooperation remains vital to improving security across the region.
