Eyamu Oghenenyerovwo Peculiar, a 300-level student of Tourism and Hospitality Management, has made history by becoming the first female President of the University of Abuja Students’ Union Government (SUG).
Peculiar emerged victorious in the 2025/2026 SUG election, which was conducted through a digital voting platform.
She campaigned under the slogan, “Everything Peculiar, Nothing Is Ordinary.”
Speaking after her victory, Peculiar expressed gratitude to the students for their trust and support.
She described her election as a victory not only for herself but for every young woman aspiring to lead.
Eyamu emphasized that the outcome demonstrates that leadership should be defined by competence, character, and service rather than gender.
Her historic election marks a significant milestone in the University’s student leadership and reflects the growing acceptance of inclusive and merit-based representation within the institution.
