Nigeria’s Super Falcons produced an impressive second-half display to beat Senegal’s Teranga Lionesses 3-0 in their second international friendly at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, on Monday.
The hosts started brightly and nearly took the lead early on, but Captain Rasheedat Ajibade’s set-piece and an effort from Joy Omewa failed to find the target.
Nigeria continued to control possession and create chances, but Senegal held firm during a tightly contested opening half.
Gift Monday remained lively in attack, while Omewa came closest to scoring after rounding the goalkeeper only to see her effort crash against the woodwork.
The breakthrough finally arrived three minutes after the restart when Shukurat Oladipo delivered a cross that Omewa headed home to put the Falcons ahead.
Omewa grabbed her second goal in the 55th minute, showing strength and composure to beat the Senegalese defence and extend Nigeria’s lead.
The Super Falcons added a third in the 66th minute as Ajibade drove forward before setting up substitute Asisat Oshoala, who finished calmly after coming on.
The convincing victory underlined Nigeria’s attacking quality and defensive discipline as the African champions continue preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
