Shooting Stars technical adviser, Salisu Yusuf, is confident his side will improve as the season progresses following their hard-fought 2-1 victory over newcomers Inter Lagos.
The Oluyole Warriors began their new campaign on a winning note at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, on Friday.
Lucky Emmanuel opened the scoring for Shooting Stars in the 14th minute before Inter Lagos drew level nine minutes later through Adigun Damilare, who finished from a well-delivered ball into the box.
Sodiq Ibrahim restored the hosts’ lead from the penalty spot in first-half stoppage time to seal the victory.
Shooting Stars had an opportunity to extend their advantage late in the game, but substitute Mustapha Adams missed from the spot.
Despite the narrow margin of victory, Yusuf expressed optimism about his team’s prospects, stressing that they would get better with more games.
“It’s step by step. I think we will play better than this with more matches.
We’ve been together for a short time, and we have this result.
“If we have one month, you can imagine what to expect,” Yusuf said after the game.
