Nollywood actress Bimpe Adedimeji has opened up about being intentionally excluded from baby showers, naming ceremonies and children’s birthday celebrations because she did not have a child at the time.
The actress made the revelation in a social media post while reflecting on her experience before motherhood and encouraging women who are currently trying to conceive.
According to Bimpe, some of the people who excluded her were individuals she personally knew and cared about, making the experience particularly painful.
“There was a time when I wasn’t invited to baby showers, naming ceremonies, children’s birthdays, or anything related to kids,” she said.
Bimpe explained that she loved children and would have preferred to celebrate with others rather than be excluded or treated differently because she was yet to become a mother.
She appealed to people to be more considerate of women who are waiting to have children, stressing that childlessness should not be a reason to deny anyone love, friendship or inclusion.
“Please don’t make it harder by excluding people. A woman without a child is not less deserving of love, friendship, inclusion, or celebration,” she said.
Encouraging women currently trying to conceive, the actress urged them not to lose hope, pointing to her own journey as an example of how circumstances can change.
“There was a time I had no child.
Today, I am a mother of triplets,” Bimpe said.
She further encouraged women who are still waiting for children to remain hopeful, drawing strength from her own experience.
“The same God who remembered me has not forgotten you,” she added.
