Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has debunked reports alleging that Governor Ademola Adeleke’s convoy was attacked by hoodlums in Osogbo, Osun State.
Reports had emerged that some hoodlums engaged security personnel attached to the governor’s convoy in a gun battle at the palace of the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, on Wednesday.
The incident was said to have occurred shortly after Governor Adeleke received his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and visited the monarch to celebrate his electoral victory.
However, Davido, in a post on his verified X handle on Wednesday evening, dismissed the report, describing it as false.
He acknowledged that a fight occurred outside the palace but stressed that it had no connection with the governor or his entourage.
“Lies! It was a fight outside the palace that had nothing to do with us. The people love his excellency,” Davido tweeted.
Ribsmedia reports that Adeleke won the election with 511,067 votes, defeating his closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who polled 444,815 votes.
Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress, ADC finished third with 17,180 votes.
