The Adeleke family has pledged to provide scholarships up to university level for the children and dependants of persons who lost their lives during the August 15 Osun State governorship election.
Governor Ademola Adeleke disclosed this on Wednesday via his X account while reflecting on his electoral victory and the presentation of his Certificate of Return.
Adeleke said the certificate belonged not to him alone but to the people of Osun State, whom he commended for standing firm in defence of democracy.
He, however, stressed that the celebration must also remember those who lost their lives and others affected by electoral violence.
The governor announced that the state government had launched a ₦500 million Election Violence Victims Endowment Fund to support victims of electoral violence.
He added that the Adeleke family would complement the initiative by providing scholarships up to university level for the children and dependants of those who died during the election.
Adeleke thanked the people of Osun State for their courage, faith and renewed confidence in his administration, saying the victory and Certificate of Return belonged to them.
“This victory belongs to you. This certificate belongs to you. Osun, we move forward together,” he said.
