The Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL board has cracked down hard on Abia Warriors and Katsina United following major rule violations during their recent home fixtures.

Abia Warriors landed in hot water after failing to deploy the required security personnel promised during their pre-match technical briefing against Niger Tornadoes.

Things worsened for the Umuahia side when a club official targeted a league broadcast crew member in a reckless bid to disrupt the live match coverage.

Consequently, the NPFL slammed Abia Warriors with a N3.2 million fine and banned their multimedia officer, Chidera Favour Igwe, for five matches.

Katsina United faced similar heat after failing to control the crowd during their intense encounter against Plateau United.

The league hit the Katsina-based club with a N2 million penalty for security lapses that allowed aggressive supporters to breach the pitch perimeter.

Both clubs now face a strict 48-hour deadline from their official notice date to file an appeal against the disciplinary decisions.
