A French appeals court on Friday ruled that Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi will stand trial over allegations of rape made against him by a woman in 2023.
The case stems from a complaint filed in February 2023 by a 24-year-old woman, who alleged that the Moroccan international raped her at his residence in the Paris suburb of Boulogne-Billancourt.
Hakimi, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain and captains Morocco’s national team, has consistently denied the allegations.
Reacting to the court’s decision, Hakimi stated on X that he had been looking forward to the trial.
“I have been waiting for this trial since day one. At last, I’ll be able to speak,” he wrote.
A trial date has not yet been announced by the criminal court in the Hauts-de-Seine department.

Hakimi’s lawyer, Fanny Colin, maintained her client’s innocence, describing the ruling as expected.
“This confirmation was expected.
Nothing here says that he is guilty of anything, he remains steadfast in his defence,” Colin said.
The development comes as Hakimi continues his international duties with Morocco at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the Atlas Lions are scheduled to face Scotland in their second group-stage match on Friday.
