A former presidential aide, Umar Sani, has claimed that former President Goodluck Jonathan already purchased a presidential nomination form ahead of the 2027 elections.
Sani, who served under former Vice President Namadi Sambo, made the dramatic disclosure during an appearance on Trust TV on Tuesday.
The revelation comes amid intense speculations fueled by Jonathan’s recent high-profile consultations across various political circles.
While Jonathan has not publicly declared his ambition, Sani suggested internal PDP crises are responsible for the former president’s cautious approach.
The PDP chieftain firmly dismissed speculation that the opposition party is simply trying to use Jonathan’s public appeal for its own gain.
Instead, he maintained that the former leader’s behind-the-scenes actions already indicate a serious and active political interest.
“He has procured the nomination form; in fact, he is about to come and submit the forms publicly. The fact of the matter is that we believe that Jonathan is the right choice at this moment,” Sani said.
Addressing legal hurdles, Sani expressed total confidence that any court suit challenging Jonathan’s eligibility to contest again would fail, declaring, “you cannot relitigate something that has already been decided upon.”
