Omonia Nicosia goalkeeper Francis Uzoho will captain the Super Eagles in tonight’s Unity Cup semi-final encounter against the Warriors of Zimbabwe.
He is the most senior player in the current squad following the high-profile absence of regular captain Wilfred Ndidi and winger Moses Simon.
Taking on his leadership duties early, the 27-year-old shot-stopper also attended the official pre-match press conference alongside head coach Éric Chelle on Monday.
Uzoho brings a massive wealth of international experience to the pitch tonight, having already been capped 37 times by Nigeria.
He faces healthy competition for the starting shirt from Wrexham’s Arthur Okonkwo and Ikorodu City star Michael Atata, who are the other goalkeepers in camp.
The rest of the squad is reported to be in high spirits and fully prepared for the tactical battle against their Southern African opponents.
The highly anticipated international football encounter will kick off under the lights at exactly 7:30 pm Nigerian time.
