UCL: Injury Concerns mount for Arsenal ahead of crucial tie against Sporting

At least five senior players of Arsenal FC were absent from training on Tuesday, raising fresh concerns ahead of a decisive week for the club.

Mikel Arteta’s side are gearing up for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash against Sporting CP on Wednesday.

They will then shift focus to a high-stakes Premier League encounter against Manchester City on Sunday, a fixture that could prove pivotal in the title race.

However, preparations have been disrupted by the absence of key players, with Riccardo Calafiori, Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, and Jurrien Timber all missing from the session.

Of the five, only Rice featured in Arsenal’s recent 2-1 home defeat to AFC Bournemouth last Saturday.

The others like Calafiori, Odegaard, Saka and Timber have been sidelined in recent weeks due to fitness concerns.

Odegaard managed to start, while Calafiori came off the bench in the FA Cup quarter-final loss to Southampton FC on Easter Saturday.

With crucial fixtures looming, Arteta will be hoping for positive updates as Arsenal look to stay competitive on multiple fronts.
