Alex Iwobi is set to become the latest member of the Super Eagles’ centurion club when Nigeria face Portugal in an international friendly at the Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa in Leiria on Wednesday.
The Fulham midfielder currently has 99 appearances for the three-time African champions and is expected to earn his 100th cap in the encounter.
Reaching the landmark will place Iwobi among a select group of Nigerian football legends who have achieved the feat.
The exclusive list includes Ahmed Musa, Joseph Yobo and Vincent Enyeama, all of whom made at least 100 appearances for the national team.
Iwobi has represented Nigeria at senior level for 10 years and eight months, establishing himself as one of the team’s most consistent players.
The former Everton playmaker made his Super Eagles debut in a friendly against the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2015 after previously featuring for England at youth level before committing his international future to Nigeria.
