Yemi Olanrewaju, Head Coach of Rivers United has officially set the tone for the Pride of Rivers ahead of a demanding campaign.
Under the Technical Adviser, Finidi George, the Port Harcourt outfit will compete across three major competitions: the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL the President Federation Cup, and the CAF Champions League.
Addressing the squad’s preparation, Olanrewaju confirmed that the team is fully primed to make a major impact at home and on the continent.
“Pre-season has been cool and tough. We are battle-ready for the League and CAF Champions League,” the former Enyimba FC coach declared on X.
Reflecting on his personal motivation, the young tactician highlighted his extensive continental experience while emphasizing a sharp focus on domestic glory.
“This is my 4th consecutive season in all CAF Club competitions. With two group stage qualifications in the CAF Confederation Cup and CAF Champions League, although I don’t think I am motivated for the continental as much as I am for the league this season.”
Rivers United kick off their NPFL campaign against Plateau United on Sunday, August 30th, before launching their continental journey against Ivory Coast’s FC San Pedro in the CAF Champions League first preliminary round next month.
