Technical Adviser of Kano Pillars, Daniel Ogunmodede, has expressed dissatisfaction with his side’s goalless draw against struggling Enyimba International in the Euromatch Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL Matchday Six encounter.
The thrilling encounter, played at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano on Sunday, saw the People’s Elephant secure their first point of the campaign.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Ogunmodede said Kano Pillars only produced their best performance in the opening 45 minutes, attributing their below-par second-half display to the weather conditions.
“We only played 45 minutes for me. You saw the weather conditions in the second half. We didn’t play football in the second half; we only tried to redeem our image, trying to fight.”
The tactician admitted that his side was unfortunate not to find the back of the net in the first half, adding that the players had to fight to restore their image in the second period.
Ogunmodede also noted that it was the first time Kano Pillars had faced an opponent without creating clear-cut chances throughout the game.
He, however, congratulated Enyimba for securing a valuable point, praising the Aba-based side for their resilience and fighting spirit.
“They were resilient. They fought as much as they can, but unfortunately, football happens. Congratulations to Enyimba for picking a point; they needed it a lot.”
