Rivers United Technical Adviser, George Finidi, has stressed the importance of an early and thorough pre-season as the club prepares for a demanding 2026/27 campaign.
The Pride of Rivers returned to pre-season training on Monday after narrowly missing out on the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL title last season, finishing second behind Rangers International.
Speaking to the club’s media, the former Super Eagles winger said the early resumption would help the team build fitness, improve tactical understanding, and integrate new signings ahead of the new season.
“The early period of pre-season will be focused on building fitness levels, establishing tactical cohesion and integrating our new signings into the squad,” Finidi said.
“With the demands of continental football, we must prepare thoroughly from the outset.”
Rivers United face a busy schedule next season as they compete in the NPFL, the CAF Champions League, and the President Federation Cup, with Finidi aiming to ensure his side is fully prepared to challenge on all fronts.
