Wikki Tourists FC has officially announced the tragic passing of its talented defender, Kabiru Mohammed, following a fatal auto crash.
The heartbreaking incident, which has thrown the entire Nigerian football community into mourning, occurred along the busy Zaria–Gusau road.
The club disclosed the devastating news in an emotional statement posted on its official Facebook handle on Thursday leaving fans and colleagues in shock as the management expressed the deep sorrow following the untimely loss of the young athlete.
“The club is deeply saddened to announce the tragic death of Mohammed following a fatal accident along the Zaria–Gusau road,” the official club statement read. The announcement immediately sparked a wave of tributes from across the domestic league for the departed star.
According to the management, the dependable defender had only recently joined Wikki Tourists from rival club Lobi Stars FC during the ongoing 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Despite his short time with the Bauchi-based team, he made an immediate impact and quickly established himself as a key pillar in the squad’s defensive line.
The statement further highlighted Mohammed’s exemplary character both on and off the pitch, noting that he was widely admired for his unwavering commitment, strict discipline, and immense passion for the game.
Before the tragic accident, Mohammed’s final appearance for the club came during a President’s Federation Cup clash against the Jigawa Golden Stars Junior Team. The match was played just days earlier on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the Nasara Stadium, Kofar Doka in Zaria, where he gave his all for the badge one last time.
“The Management, Technical Crew, Players and supporters of Wikki Tourists FC extend heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and the entire football community over this painful loss,” the statement added.
