Nigerian singer, Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, popularly known as Mayorkun, has revealed that he intends to conduct a DNA test before accepting any child as his own.
The ‘Body Cheche’ crooner made the disclosure during a recent episode of the In My Opinion podcast, where he also revealed that he had informed his girlfriend of his plans to sign a prenuptial agreement before marriage.
According to Mayorkun, he intends to conduct a DNA test whenever his wife gives birth, a decision he said did not go down well with his girlfriend.
“I told my girlfriend we’d have to do a prenup and DNA test when she gives me a child, just to be sure.
She got upset.
“I have thought of doing the DNA test without telling her. If it is my child, no issues.
If not, everybody will hear about it,” he said.
DNA testing has continued to attract public attention in Nigeria amid concerns over cases of alleged paternity fraud.
Several Nigerian celebrities have also publicly encouraged men to establish the paternity of their children through DNA testing before assuming parental responsibilities.
