Technical Adviser of Sporting Lagos, Jeffery Buter expressed deep disappointment following his side’s painful home setback against Abia Warriors on Sunday.
The host team suffered a humbling 2-0 defeat at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, failing to capitalize on their home-ground advantage.
Abia Warriors secured all three points courtesy of clinical strikes from Ikoi Etta and Chukwumeka Obioma.
Reflecting on the match, Buter admitted that tactical changes made late in the game to chase an equalizer backfired on his side.
The tactician acknowledged that pushing extra men forward left his defensive line exposed and vulnerable to quick attacks.
“Always disappointing to lose especially in the front of the home fans,” Buter stated during his post-match interview.
“I think we had a good game, we maybe made some mistakes with the substitution, but in the inside we were trying to find goals, we have to put players up the pitch,” he explained.
“Two mistakes, two goals conceded on the counter so it was a disappointing result for us,” Buter added as Sporting Lagos now turn their focus toward a demanding road fixture against Enyimba in Aba.
