The Federal Government has officially cleared the way for a long holiday weekend by declaring Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to mark Easter.
The announcement was made Wednesday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who extended warm congratulations to Christians both at home and abroad.
In a statement released by Permanent Secretary Magdalene Ajani, the Minister highlighted that the break is an opportunity for citizens to reflect on the core message of the season.
Tunji-Ojo specifically urged Nigerians to “imbibe the virtues of selflessness, forgiveness, forbearance, and love,” following the examples set by the teachings of Jesus Christ.
He emphasized that these values of tolerance and community spirit are not just religious concepts but essential tools for building a more united Nigeria.
Beyond the spiritual focus, the Minister used the occasion to reassure the public that the government remains dedicated to driving national rebirth and economic stability.
As the nation prepares for the festivities, the government’s message remains focused on shared prosperity and a renewed commitment to national unity for all citizens.
