The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, May 27 and Thursday, May 28, 2026, as public holidays for the Eid-el-Kabir festival.
Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced the decision through a statement signed on Monday by Permanent Secretary Magdalene Ajani.
This holiday honors the faith and spiritual heritage of millions of Nigerian Muslims celebrating the event worldwide.
Tunji-Ojo congratulated Muslims at home and abroad, highlighting Eid-ul-Adha as a time of sacrifice, obedience to God, and compassion.
The minister urged citizens to spend the holidays praying and reflecting on the nation’s peace, security, and prosperity.
He also called on Nigerians to embrace brotherhood, unity, and peaceful coexistence throughout the celebration period.
Finally, the government wished the entire Muslim community a peaceful, blessed, and joyous Eid-ul-Adha.
