Patience Ozokwor: my ‘wicked woman’ roles are divine calling

Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G, has described her frequent portrayal of witches, wicked women and antagonists in Nollywood films as a divinely assigned calling.

The actress made the disclosure during a live-streamed interview hosted by content creator Carter Efe, while addressing public curiosity about her recurring roles as villains in movies.

Ozokwor explained that although she dislikes injustice, war and rancour, she gives her best whenever she is cast in such roles.

“I think God gave me that niche. I hate every ill because I don’t like injustice, war, and rancour. When you give me those roles, I try to bring everything into them,” she said.

According to the actress, her performances are carefully crafted to show audiences the consequences of bad behaviour and the rewards of living a good life.

She added that viewers should learn from the characters she portrays and understand the consequences of their actions.

“If you are taking part in any of them, you have to be careful and know the end thereof, for the end justifies the means. Know what will happen to you if you live a terrible life, and know what you will gain if you are a good person,” she explained.

Ozokwor said her portrayal of villainous characters ultimately serves as a form of social instruction, using storytelling to teach audiences about the consequences of their choices and behaviour.
