Veteran Nollywood actor Hanks Anuku has revealed that the death of his partner and mother of his children had a profound impact on his life and career.
The actor made the disclosure amid renewed public concern over his mental health after he was seen in several viral videos appearing distressed.
Days later, he was seen undergoing a deliverance session at a church in Abuja.
Speaking in a video shared on social media after the church service, Anuku said the loss of his partner left him emotionally devastated and struggling to move on.
According to him, the trauma led him to withdraw from people and isolate himself.
“A lot of you know me, and I guess you have seen a lot online about me.
I have been through a lot of traumatic situations. First, I lost my baby mama.
I wanted to marry her, but she went to the great beyond too soon. She was the mother of my daughter and son,” he said.
Reflecting on the church experience, Anuku said he now feels renewed and hopeful.
“Before the deliverance, I felt weighed down, very heavy and uncomfortable.
But now I feel as light as a feather and like a newborn baby after the prayers. I feel so much joy now.
There’s laughter and dancing in me again.
I was misled until I was struck by the Holy Spirit and brought into God’s presence for deliverance, healing, and divine comfort,” he added.
The actor’s comments come after he previously disclosed in 2023 that he turned to alcohol as a way of coping with depression following personal challenges.
