The Kwara South Security Joint Watch has taken a swipe at leaders in the district over what it described as a slow response to growing insecurity.
The group revealed it issued an alert on Saturday ahead of an attack on an ECWA church in Omugo, near Oro-Ago in Ifelodun Local Government Area.
Gunmen struck during Sunday service, abducting eight worshippers in the process.
Among those kidnapped was the wife of the church leader, though three victims were later rescued.
In a statement released on Monday, the coordinator of the group, Elder Olaitan Zubairu, lamented that the warning signs were ignored.
He called for a shift from reactive measures to more proactive leadership across the district.
Zubairu expressed sympathy with the victims and their families, describing the incident as deeply troubling.
He also criticised political leaders for limiting their response to sympathy messages without concrete steps.
“Enough is enough. Show us action, not just statements,” the statement read, as the group urged stronger collaboration and practical measures to improve security in Kwara South.
