Senator Sadiq welcomes rescue of Woro abduction victims

Senator representing Kwara North Senatorial District, Sadiq Suleiman Umar, has welcomed the rescue of victims abducted during the attack on Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, describing the development as a huge relief for Kwara North and the entire state.

In a statement issued by his media team on Thursday, August 6, 2026, and made available to Ribsmedia, the lawmaker recalled the pain and anxiety that followed the attack, during which more than 100 innocent residents were abducted.

He said he remained deeply concerned about the victims and their families while supporting efforts to secure their safe release.

Senator Sadiq commended the Federal Government, the Kwara State Government, the Armed Forces, other security agencies, local vigilantes, and everyone involved in the successful rescue operation. He described the achievement as proof of the effectiveness of coordinated security efforts.

While celebrating the return of the rescued victims, the senator urged security agencies to sustain the operation until all those still in captivity regain their freedom.

He specifically appealed for intensified efforts to secure the release of the family members of the Emir of Yashikira, the Lata Nna, and other victims still being held across parts of Kwara State.

He also mourned those who lost their lives during the attack, praying that Almighty Allah grants them Al-Jannah Firdaus and gives their families the strength to bear the loss.

Senator Sadiq reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at restoring lasting peace and improving security across Kwara North and Kwara State.
