Kano Pillars FC have once again come under heavy sanctions from the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL following crowd trouble during their home fixture against Rivers United on Sunday, April 19, 2026.
According to the league body, the Sai Masu Gida were found guilty of multiple breaches of the NPFL Framework and Rules, particularly relating to security lapses and the conduct of their supporters.
The NPFL charged Kano Pillars for failing to provide adequate and effective security, which led to unauthorized individuals gaining access to restricted areas.
The situation escalated as supporters invaded the pitch, posing a threat to the safety of players and match officials.
In addition, the club was cited for failing to control their fans, whose actions included intimidation, harassment, and gross misconduct towards match officials—behaviour deemed capable of bringing the game into disrepute.
As a result of these infractions, the NPFL imposed a series of fines totaling N15 million.
The breakdown includes N4 million for failure to provide adequate security, N3 million for acts of unsporting behaviour, another N3 million for failure to ensure proper conduct of supporters, N3 million for gross misconduct towards officials, and N2 million for match disruption and delay.
Beyond the financial penalties, Kano Pillars have also been ordered to play their next three home matches behind closed doors—one remaining fixture this season and two at the start of the next campaign.
The club has been given a 48-hour window from the date of notice to appeal the sanctions.
The latest disciplinary action underscores the NPFL’s continued crackdown on crowd disorder and its commitment to ensuring safety and professionalism across league venues.
