Nigerian troops raid terror enclaves in Benue State clearance drive

Troops operating under Sector 1 of Operation Whirl Stroke have neutralized a suspected terrorist hideout and detained five individuals during a tactical raid in Benue State’s Ukum Local Government Area.

According to updates shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the military launched the targeted, intelligence-backed operation around mid-morning on August 1.

The sweep covered key locations across the region, specifically targeting criminal strongholds in the Atombagen, Chito, Tse Kighr, Tse Anaka, and Sabongida Leke communities.

Although the primary armed suspects managed to escape prior to the arrival of the military task force, operatives successfully rounded up five alleged accomplices at Sabongida Leke.

“The troops also destroyed the terrorist enclave and several life-support structures believed to have been used by the criminal elements as operational bases,” the report stated.

This clearance exercise forms a core part of the military’s ongoing campaign to dismantle logistics channels and restrict the movement of armed gangs throughout the Benue axis.

The five detained suspects are currently being held in military custody where they will undergo detailed interrogation as security forces work to unravel the broader criminal network.
