A tragic road accident on the Ogiladzi–Abakwa Road has claimed the life of a female passenger.
The crash happened at Ofyanghan in the Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State.
Witnesses said a Benue Links bus was heading toward Jato-Aka when it suddenly plunged into a stream.
The disaster struck on Friday evening between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
It is still completely unclear what caused the driver to go off the road and into the water.
Local villagers rushed to the scene and managed to pull several surviving passengers out of the bus.
People are now being advised to call family members who were traveling that route to check on them.
Neither the Benue State Police Command nor the transport company could be reached for comment before press time.
