Eight persons have been confirmed dead following a deadly explosion along Luma Road in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

The incident occurred on Monday when suspected terrorists detonated an improvised explosive device that hit a moving vehicle.

Reports indicate that the blast caused severe damage, leaving victims with little chance of survival.

In addition to the attack, the assailants reportedly destroyed a major bridge linking Luma, Babanna and Agwara communities.

The damaged bridge is a critical route for residents, especially traders and commuters heading to the Babanna border market, which holds every Monday.

The incident comes shortly after a similar explosion was reported in Woro, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, where several people were also feared dead.
