2027: Ortom dispels senatorial ambition rumours

Former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has firmly denied speculations linking him to any political contest in the 2027 general elections.

The clarification was issued on Saturday in Makurdi through a statement by his media aide, Dr Terver Akase.

Reports had circulated, particularly on social media, suggesting that Ortom was eyeing the Benue North-West Senatorial seat.

Reacting, Ortom said, “I have no intention whatsoever to contest any elective office in 2027,” stressing that his position had been made clear repeatedly.

He added, “I expect that a position stated this plainly would not require translation or creative reinterpretation.”

The former governor maintained that his priority remains promoting democratic values, strengthening the PDP, and offering leadership guidance, urging the public to dismiss the claims as a fabrication.
