Prince Emmanuel Umoh, a pastor at Living Faith Church, Ifa Ikot Ubo, has been sentenced to death by hanging for murdering his landlord, Gabriel Bassey Edward in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.
The Akwa Ibom State High Court found Umoh guilty of the crime, which was committed on December 21, 2020, at the church premises where he served as pastor.
Evidence showed Umoh was the last person seen with Edward, and he had unexplained bloodstains on his garment.
The victim’s body was found decomposing with multiple lacerations.
Justice Gabriel Ette condemned the act, citing the betrayal of public trust and the danger posed to society by such individuals.
Umoh was arraigned on December 6, 2021, and pleaded not guilty.
