Kwara State Sports Festival

The Kwara State Sports Commission has announced plans to stage the 8th edition of the State Sports Festival before the end of 2026.

The Executive Chairman of the Commission, Mallam Bolakale Mogaji, disclosed this in Ilorin while leading members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kwara State chapter, on a tour of the newly upgraded Pa G.B. Ladipo Indoor Sports Hall.
Mogaji revealed that official communications and necessary documents have already been forwarded to relevant authorities, including local government councils across the state, to kick-start preparations for the festival.
He noted that the initiative is aimed at discovering and nurturing grassroots talents, stressing that such potentials must not be allowed to go to waste.
“We are going to stage another colourful sports festival before the year runs out,” he said.
The Commission’s chairman also confirmed that the contractor handling the renovation of the indoor sports hall has officially handed over the facility, expressing satisfaction with the quality of work delivered.
He commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his significant investment in sports development, noting that the administration is committed to transforming Kwara into a major sports hub in Nigeria.
The last Kwara State Sports Festival was held in 2020, shortly after the current administration assumed office.
