Former Senate President and Waziri of Ilorin, Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki, CON, has announced Engr. Kale Kawu as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the forthcoming Kwara State gubernatorial election.
Saraki made this known through his official X handle on Saturday, May 23, 2026, noting that the decision followed extensive consultations with party stakeholders and other leading governorship aspirants within the party.
According to him, the PDP arrived at a consensus in choosing Engr. Kale Kawu as the party’s flagbearer for the election.
Saraki appreciated the other aspirants who, in the interest of the party and Kwara State, stepped down in support of the consensus arrangement.
He described their action as a demonstration of unity, maturity, and selflessness needed to secure victory for the PDP.
“It is this spirit of unity and selflessness that will carry our party to victory in the forthcoming election,” Saraki stated.
The former Kwara State Governor also commended party members, delegates, and supporters for what he described as a peaceful, successful, and orderly conduct ahead of the gubernatorial primaries.
