The Nigeria Police Force has begun disciplinary proceedings against four officers seen in a viral video allegedly behaving unprofessionally and making derogatory ethnic remarks during a stop-and-search operation on the Lagos-Benin Expressway.
The officers, comprising one Assistant Superintendent of Police ASP and three Inspectors, have been identified and taken into custody pending an orderly room trial, according to a statement issued on Saturday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Police CSP Ani Iniedu.
The statement added that the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Olatunji Disu, has directed the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State to carry out a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to professionalism, accountability, and respect for the rights of all citizens, assuring the public that appropriate action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
