The Edo State Government has awarded scholarships to the three children of late Brigadier General Oseni Omoh Braimah, who was killed in a terrorist attack in Borno State.
The late officer, an indigene of Edo, served as Commander of the 29 Task Force Brigade in Benisheik, along the Maiduguri-Damaturu road.
He and several other military personnel were killed on April 8, 2026, during an attack by suspected Boko Haram insurgents in Kaga Local Government Area.
The fallen officers were laid to rest on April 15, 2026, at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery in Maiduguri, with top officials and military commanders in attendance.
Governor Monday Okpebholo described the deaths as tragic and said the scholarship reflects both moral duty and responsible governance.
He noted that Brigadier Braimah’s sacrifice in service to Nigeria must not be forgotten, adding that the state would stand firmly by his family.
The beneficiaries include Farida Hussain-Braimah, Amir Hussain-Braimah, and Yasmeen Hussain-Braimah, who are all currently pursuing their education in Abuja.
Okpebholo assured that the government would support the children throughout their academic journey to secure stable futures.
He explained that the initiative aligns with his administration’s SHINE Agenda, which focuses on education, social welfare, and human capital development.
Meanwhile, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has announced a N50 million donation to the families of the late brigadier general and other fallen officers to ease the impact of their loss.
