TCN announces blackout in three states

 

The Transmission Company of Nigeria TCN has announced a power outage in parts of Kogi, Edo and Ondo States due to scheduled annual maintenance at its 330/132kV Ajaokuta Transmission Substation.

In a statement on Monday, TCN said the maintenance exercise, scheduled for Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 9am to 4pm, will affect the ability of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC and Benin Electricity Distribution Company BEDC to supply electricity to customers in parts of the three states.

According to TCN, the exercise will enable its technical crew to carry out preventive maintenance on the 162MVA, 330/132kV power transformer, as well as associated switchgear and ancillary equipment at the substation.

Areas expected to be affected include Ekirin, Omuo, Ibillo, Akoko, Ogala, Ikare, Magongo, Okene Town, Ayere, Kabba and environs.

Other affected areas include Okpella Town, BUA Cement Company, West African Fertilizer Company, Dibeks Milling Company, Edestein Company, Freedom Group Company, Ososo, Uluoke, Iyora, Apana, Okpekpe, Arigidi, Ikare Town, Lampese, Igara, Oka and environs.

TCN said electricity supply to the affected areas would be interrupted during the maintenance period.

“The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, hereby informs the public that annual preventive maintenance has been scheduled at its 330/132kV Ajaokuta Transmission Substation on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 9am to 4pm,” the statement said.
