Olaiya Igwe dismisses illness rumours, says viral video was movie scene

Veteran Nollywood actor, Ebun Oloyede, popularly known as Olaiya Igwe, has dismissed reports that he is seriously ill, describing a viral video that sparked concern among fans as a scene from a movie.

The video, which circulated on social media last week, showed the actor appearing weak and unwell, prompting widespread speculation about his health.

However, Olaiya Igwe explained that the footage was recorded on a movie set where he was playing the role of a sick father in a film directed by veteran actor and filmmaker, Mr Latin.

The actor said his performance was so convincing that many people who watched the video mistakenly believed he was genuinely battling an illness.

Speaking via his Instagram page, Olaiya Igwe expressed disappointment over reports surrounding the video, while appreciating those who contacted him to confirm his wellbeing.

“I have seen some people wishing me to die. For those who are genuinely concerned, please relax. There is no problem. I was only acting my role, as you all know, I am a versatile actor,” he said.

He further explained that the viral footage was taken during the production of an Oga Latin movie.

“It was an Oga Latin movie we were shooting, and one of the scenes required me to play a sick father. It went viral and brought concern from the public. Some understood that I was only acting, while others thought I was actually sick and checked up on me.

“For those wishing me evil, evil will be their portion. I am okay and there is nothing wrong with me,” the actor added.

Olaiya Igwe’s clarification comes after the viral video generated concern among fans and social media users, with many reaching out to ascertain his health condition.
