A young man in Kano State has reportedly cut off one of his fingers after allegedly being promised N80 million to provide a body part from a living person.
The incident was disclosed by the spokesperson for the Kano State Police Command in a series of posts on his official Facebook page on Wednesday.
According to the police spokesperson, the man approached a police station and reported that someone had offered him N80 million to provide a human finger.
He reportedly told the police that after failing to find another person willing to provide the finger, he used a knife to cut off his own finger and handed it over to the individual who allegedly made the offer.
However, the man later reported the matter to the police after the alleged recipient failed to pay the promised N80 million.
Following the complaint, the police arrested the alleged recipient of the body part, who is currently being detained at the Kano State Police in Command headquarters in Bompai.
During questioning, the suspect reportedly denied asking for a human finger, claiming that he had requested the bone from the forearm of a living person instead.
The police said the severed finger was recovered, while investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the bizarre incident.
