The General Manager of Fresh FM Lagos, Taiwo Akinsola, has highly commended the Ogun State Police Command for the late-night rescue of 18 National Youth Service Corps members left vulnerable in a dangerous sector of the state.
In an official appreciation letter to Police Commissioner Bode Ojajuni, released Monday by spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi, Akinsola revealed the corps members were salvaged on June 30 after their vehicle broke down.
The emergency unfolded in an area heavily notorious for violent criminal activities, immediately forcing the stranded youths to contact authorities as danger loomed.
Recalling the tension, Akinsola noted, “The Corps Members were stranded at night at a notorious black spot in Ogun State after their vehicle broke down. The location is widely known as a hotspot for kidnappers and criminal activity. In that moment of fear and vulnerability, they called for help.”
The media executive warmly praised the rapid mobilization of the command, which prevented a potentially devastating security failure.
“We are deeply appreciative that the Ogun State Police Command, under CP Bode Ojajuni, responded promptly to the distress call. Your officers arrived without delay, secured the scene, and ensured the safe evacuation of all 18 Corps Members to Ijebu Ode and lodged them in a hotel,” Akinsola wrote.
He strongly emphasized the broader impact of the operation, stating, “Their professionalism, courage and vigilance saved lives that night and prevented what could have been a tragic incident nationally.”
Lauding the strategic execution, Akinsola remarked that this specific intervention transcended regular, everyday law enforcement duties.
“This act of service goes beyond duty. It demonstrates the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force under your leadership to protect lives and property, even in the most dangerous hours. The Corps Members and their families are forever grateful,” he added.
Turning his attention to the field officers, the veteran broadcaster single out the local operational leadership for their decisive tactical response.
“We commend you, the DPO of the division, and the patrol team who acted decisively. Your quick intervention has restored public confidence and shown that help is indeed available when needed,” Akinsola said.
