Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar Burna Boy has officially pulled ahead of his colleague Tems to become the African artist with the most Billboard U.S. Hot 100 entries.
The two powerhouse performers had previously been tied at eight entries each. However, Burna Boy broke the deadlock this week thanks to his collaboration with Shakira on the official World Cup anthem, “Dai Dai.”
The track debuted at number 75 on the chart, officially bringing Burna Boy’s total to nine—a record-breaking milestone for any artist from Africa.
The song gained massive momentum after Burna Boy and Shakira delivered a high-energy performance during the World Cup Opening Ceremony.
Beyond this latest achievement, the “African Giant” remains the only artist from the continent to chart at least one song on the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive years.
His impressive run of hits includes ‘Loved By You’ (2021), ‘Last Last’ (2022), ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ and ‘Talibans II’ (2023), as well as ‘Just Like Me’ and ‘We Pray’ (2024).
His chart-topping streak continued into 2025 and 2026 with ‘WGFT’, ‘Only You’, and his latest record-breaker, ‘Dai Dai’.
