Operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Ogun State Police Command have successfully rescued an abducted victim. During the high-stakes operation, officers neutralized two suspected kidnappers and recovered a single-barrel gun.
The breakthrough was confirmed in a statement released on Wednesday by the command’s police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi.
According to Babaseyi, the ordeal began on Thursday, June 11, 2026. The victim was ambushed and taken from Ogbe Village, located in the Obafemi-Owode local government area of Ogun State.
The moment the report dropped, the command swung into action. They immediately activated their anti-kidnapping unit, deploying heavy intelligence and tactical resources to track down the gang and save the victim.
Through relentless operational pressure, strategic surveillance, and tracking, the police wore the criminals down. Their persistence paid off when the victim was finally released unharmed on June 18, 2026.
Determined not to let the criminals slip away, the team refused to back down. They intensified their follow-up operations, tracking the suspects directly to their hidden camp.
The moment the kidnappers spotted the advancing operatives, they opened fire in a desperate bid to escape. In the fierce gunfight that followed, police neutralized two of the suspects while the rest of the gang fled with bullet wounds.
A search of the immediate scene uncovered a cache of evidence. Officers recovered a single-barrel gun, one expended cartridge, a mobile phone, and N2.2 million in cash believed to be ransom money.
Praising the breakthrough, Babaseyi said: “The successful operation is a testament to the effectiveness of the intelligence-driven and proactive crime-fighting strategies being vigorously pursued by the Ogun State Police Command under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni.”
The police have already turned up the heat to hunt down the remaining gang members. Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police CP Bode Ojajuni heavily commended the team’s gallantry, warning that Ogun State will remain completely hostile territory for criminals.
