Sarafadeen Alli wins Oyo APC Governorship Primary as Adelabu alleges fraud

Oyo South Senator, Sarafadeen Alli, has emerged as the winner of the Oyo State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election.

The lawmaker secured a landslide victory by polling 578,143 votes to defeat his closest rivals for the party’s ticket.

Former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, finished a distant second in the contest, scoring 19,193 votes.

Adelabu had recently resigned from his ministerial position in the federal cabinet to focus entirely on contesting the Oyo State governorship seat.

Following the declaration of the results, the former minister alleged that the primary election process was heavily manipulated.

Adelabu made the allegations on Thursday while interacting with journalists shortly after casting his vote at his designated ward.

“I must sound this note of warning that it is not this way in a lot of other wards. Reports reaching me state that there are a lot of gross misconducts in the other wards, ranging from various forms of infractions. In some wards, they conducted the election hours before the appointed time and wrote the figures they liked,” the ex-minister stated.
